In December 2016 Asia Pacific Resources International Holdings Limited (APRIL), founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sukanto Tanoto, held a Caring for the Climate Doodle Competition, inviting people of all ages and backgrounds to compete in the creative competition which was themed “PT RAPP Good for Climate.”
With the competition being opened to all Indonesian citizens, APRIL hoped to use the competition as a way of spreading the message of environmentally sustainable practises to the public. The company believes that the event is a great opportunity to show the public that they (APRIL, and its subsidiary company Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP)) operate in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way.
With the winning prizes consisting of Xiao Yi cameras and Sakura Koi colouring tools, more than 60 entries were received during the month long contest. The creative themes of which the public could choose from ranged from “plant trees for the future” to “the forest is our future” and “grow trees, grow people”.

APRIL group forms a part of the Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) group of companies, founded by Sukanto Tanoto in 1973, and is one of the world’s largest producers of pulp and paper. It was founded in 1993 in Singapore and, through its subsidiaries in Indonesia, was able to begin plantation development as well as establish its main manufacturing plants in Pangkalan Kerinci, Indonesia.
Forward to 2017, and APRIL has worked its way up to being one of the most technologically advanced, top pulp and paper product producers in the world; producing up to 2.8 million tonnes of pulp and up to 850000 tonnes of paper annually at the Pangkalan Kerinci mill.
