Sukanto Tanoto has been talking about the crucial importance of education for years, and his Foundation definitely rises to the challenge, a fact particularly pointed out by its efforts in supporting lecturers from various Indonesian universities since 2013.
The new 2015 event promises an even more impressive line of 6 lecturers arriving at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, three of which are from Universitas Gadja Mada, and the rest from Universitas Indonesia.
The Best Program for Lecturers
With the help of the Tanoto Foundation, lecturers are provided with assistance to learn from Wharton School specialists as part of the Global Faculty Development program. The lecturers will be provided with invaluable insight on how to prepare and write their research papers, and ensure that they can submit their papers to reputable international journals.
The lecturers will be preparing their research and papers on a number of significant topics, ranging from subjects such as the way in which diversity in bank board members might affect performance, or the extent to which the government system affects the quality of financial reporting in Asia.
The Importance of Lasting Support
While results haven’t been slow to show in recent years, local Indonesian Universities have been struggling to keep up with schools from other countries, particularly when it comes to publishing papers in important international journals. Representatives from Gadja Mada and Universitas Indonesia have expressed their gratitude towards the Tanoto Foundation, stating that, if more institutions were to provide them with the same kind of support, the situation would improve greatly.
Sukanto Tanoto, Chairman of the RGE Group of Corporations and founder of the Tanoto Foundation, believes that, aside from the renewed opportunities that supporting these Universities would bring to the level of quality in Indonesian educational development, the mutual learning and sharing between these institutions is an even more invaluable asset.
